Reggae Beach

Yesterday we decided to take a Sunday drive to a beach that's on the other side of the island.  The roads were awful (ginormous potholes everywhere!) but it was well worth it.

Reggae Beach - and we are livin' de life.

First things first.  You must visit Oliver when you get to Reggae Beach.  He was very gentle when I held my hand out to him.  But when Royce attempted...

The monkey went all crazy and was tugging on my little man's fingers.  Look at the monkey's eyes.  He's intent on getting to those little sausages.  And Royce doesn't look too happy either.

Then we just walked up and down the coast - we didn't really swim, we just waded.

A little restaurant shack.

He wasn't too sure about this whole thing.

I thought this one was pretty darn cute.

We stayed for about an hour.  It was a really nice beach.  On the island you have the Atlantic beaches and the Caribbean beaches.  This was on the Caribbean side so its waves are much more mellow.  But the best part of the trip was that I FINALLY saw my first wild monkeys as we were making the drive.  The area we live in is totally developed with housing so the monkeys don't make their way over to my place much.  But we were driving through deep brush and trees and they were everywhere.  It was cool.  I couldn't catch them on camera but the views on the way home were quite lovely.

  1. Remember that Lizzie McGuire (spelling?) where the dad picks up the banana and gets stuck in the trap, and then the monkey comes to take the banana from him, and the dad is like, "monkey".
