On St. Kitts we have an old English Fortress that is the oldest standing on the West side of England. Recently some British Royals were visiting St. Kitts and to celebrate their coming, they had a reenactment between the British and the French.
Why they picked a battle that the French won, I don't really know.
Anyway, for a school field trip we brought the older kids to watch the reenactment and tour the fortress. Here are some pictures from our day.
The 'soldiers' talked to the students before the reenactment, answering their questions, describing life back then, etc. It was pretty interesting.

What we discovered, which we were not told prior, is that all of the actors had to pay their own way to the island. It is a hobby for these people. What we were told was that it would be a large reenactment and they would be shooting some of the cannons and they made it sound like it would be really cool. Here's what we saw...
Now, I don't want to be too cruel because these people took the time and money to come down and do this reenactment. But, I will say we were a little disappointed. No cannons, and really not very many people. It was still fun to walk around and get off campus for a little while though.
